What Can I Expect?

The incidence of melanoma continues to rise rapidly in this country. Increasingly, the management of the melanoma patient requires multiple healthcare providers. This course is specifically designed for a multidisciplinary view of the care of the melanoma patient. The course faculty will examine common clinical issues which often confront the clinician and provide information that will help in their clinical decision making.

Course Objectives:
  • Improve your ability to diagnose and treat melanoma and aggressive non-melanoma skin cancers, focusing on the following issues: scientific evidence for sunscreens
  • Improve your ability to diagnose and treat melanoma focusing on the clinical dilemmas facing both dermatologists and dermatopathologists in correctly diagnosing difficult melanocytic lesions including pigmented lesions of the nails.
  • Improve your ability to diagnose and treat melanoma and aggressive non-melanoma skin cancers, focusing on the surgical issues facing the dermatologist and surgeon treating melanoma and merkel cell cancers.
  • Improve your ability to diagnose and treat melanoma and aggressive non-melanoma skin cancers, focusing on the tanning bed controversy as viewed by a North Carolina lawmaker.
  • Improve your ability to diagnose and treat melanoma focusing on he current role of systemic therapy in the melanoma patient with metastatic disease,including updated information on CTLA-4 inhibitors, BRAF-inhibitors and MEK inhibitors
