Ethnicity, Culture and Health Outcomes
ECHO

Located on the campus of The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, the mission of the UNC Program on Ethnicity, Culture and Health Outcomes (ECHO) is to improve the health of North Carolina communities by eliminating racial and ethnic health disparities through multidisciplinary and culturally sensitive research, education and training.

In 2005, ECHO established the Carolina Community Network which leverages long-standing university-community relationships and the community-based participatory research expertise at UNC to enhance and extend cancer education and research.

In partnership with the Greensboro AHEC and the NC TraCS Institute, ECHO works closely with a variety of community-based and health care organizations across Central and Eastern North Carolina to address cancer health disparities among the African-American adult population.
