Student Housing Information
The Office of
Regional Primary Care Education (ORPCE) provides housing for health
professions students during their community clinical experiences.
Obtaining Greensboro AHEC Housing

All requests
for AHEC student housing must be made through the statewide MyAHEC website
at
www.myahec.net. The site will instruct you to create an online account and you can
select the AHEC region(s) where you need housing. This process requires that
you apply for your own housing; a school/course coordinator will not be able
to apply for housing on your behalf.

Housing Agreement to our office with a $50.00 security deposit
Housing is on a first come, first served basis.
As housing is
limited, please submit these forms as soon as possible after your rotation
assignment has been scheduled and is definite. All forms and payment must be
received in the Greensboro AHEC office before housing can be confirmed and
keys issued. You will receive a confirmation of housing by email
approximately 2-3 weeks before your rotation begins, provided that all forms
and deposits have been received.
Security Deposit
A $50.00
security deposit is required for all housing applicants.
You may either send in a check or pay
by credit card.

Your security deposit will be forfeited if:

Housing is not
cancelled within 72 hours of your rotation beginning date and you are
considered as a no-show

Keys are not
properly returned at the end of rotation
·
All
requirements listed in GAHEC Housing Agreement are not adhered to
Please note: We
will not process the security deposit if agreement is adhered to. Checks
will be destroyed and credit card payments will not be processed.
Housing Sites
We have housing
sites available in several of our communities throughout the Greensboro AHEC
region. A description of the housing accommodations and directions, what the
proprietor expects, what is provided, and/or what you need to bring with you
is listed under each housing community below:
Asheboro Housing
Some students
going on rotation to White Oak Family Physicians, Asheboro Family
Physicians, Randolph Medical Associates, or Randolph Hospital, etc., need
housing during their clinical. For this reason, the Greensboro ORPCE
maintains two apartments in the Asheboro area, one for male students and one
for female students. We have the capacity to house four students in each
apartment. If you are assigned to the Asheboro housing location, you are
allowed to check-in on the first day of your rotation, weekend
Check-in is not

Greensboro
There are
thirteen apartments on the Moses Cone campus to accommodate students on
rotation in Greensboro, Burlington and High Point. These apartments fill
quickly and stay full most of the time. All the apartments are identical in
description. We highly recommend you apply for housing in the Greensboro
area as soon as possible after scheduling your rotation through your school.
After receiving your housing application, deposit and housing agreement, the
Greensboro AHEC Housing Coordinator will determine housing availability and
you will receive confirmation by e-mail approximately 2-3 weeks prior to
rotation begin date. Actual apartment numbers will not be assigned until
check in.
WI-FI: The wireless network in the AHEC apartments is a free service that
allows you to attach your wireless-enabled computer to the internet. To use
this service, you must have a computer with a standard 802.11b/g/ WIFI card
or internal wifi card as provided in laptops. The AHEC office will not be
responsible for providing technical support for your computer, devices, WIFI
card or setup. Technical support must come from the manufacturer or issuing
body.
Please note: Students assigned to Burlington will be housed in
Greensboro. Occasionally, when housing is at full capacity in Reidsville and
Eden, you will be assigned to Greensboro based on availability.
Reidsville, Eden
There is an
apartment in Reidsville, which students will be able to utilize while on
rotations in Reidsville, Yanceyville or Eden. This apartment will only
accommodate two male or two female students at any given time. In the event
that the apartment is full, we also have a family home in Eden that will
accommodate one student at a time.
