Student
Housing Information
One of the roles of the Office of Regional Primary Care Education (ORPCE) is to
provide housing for health professions students during their community clinical
experiences.
In order to be considered for any of the Greensboro AHEC housing, students must either complete the NC AHEC Request for Housing Application electronically OR fax or mail a signed Greensboro AHEC Housing Agreement to our office with a $50.00 security deposit.
Housing is on a first come, first served basis. As housing is limited, please submit these forms as soon as possible after your rotation assignment has been scheduled and is definite. All forms and payment must be received in the Greensboro AHEC office before housing can be confirmed. You will receive a confirmation of housing by e-mail approximately 2-3 weeks before your rotation begins.
A $50.00 security deposit is
required effective July 1, 2007 for all housing applicants.
You may either send in a check or pay by credit card. You can reach Patricia Parrish,
Greensboro Housing Coordinator, at (336) 832-8566.
Please make your check payable to:

We have housing sites available in several of our communities throughout the
Greensboro AHEC region.
A description of the housing accommodations and directions, what the proprietor
expects, what is provided, and/or what you need to bring with you is listed
under each housing community below.
Asheboro
Some students going on rotation to White Oak Family Physicians, Asheboro Family Physicians, Randolph Medical Associates, or Randolph Hospital, etc., need housing during their clinicals. For this reason, the Greensboro ORPCE maintains two apartments in the Asheboro area, one for male students and one for female students. We have the capacity to house four students in each apartment. If you are assigned to the Asheboro housing location, you are allowed to check-in on the first day of your rotation. You can pick up your keys from the site in which you do your rotation.
Documents describing each of the Asheboro apartments are available below. These documents can be opened in Microsoft Word or WordPad:
Asheboro Housing - Towne Manor #10
Eden
During short-term (one week) rotations, we can place students in an on-call room at Morehead Hospital in Eden. In the event that our Reidsville apartment is full, we also have a family home in Eden that will accommodate one student at a time.
Students on rotation with Dr. McLeod at the Women's Health Centre in Eden are often housed in an on-call room at Morehead Hospital. These rotations are generally only one week in length and Dr. McLeod prefers his students close by for late night deliveries. The hospital generously provides meal tickets to students staying in the on-call room.

Greensboro
The Greensboro AHEC has thirteen apartments on the Moses Cone campus to accommodate students on rotation in Greensboro, Burlington and High Point.
This sounds like a great deal of housing, but in reality these apartments fill quickly. ORPCE assists students from the various disciplines - IM, FM, OB/GYN, Peds, Pharm-D, NP, PA, etc. - therefore, these apartments are in high demand and stay full most of the time. All the apartments are identical in description. We highly recommend that you apply for housing in the Greensboro area as soon as possible after scheduling your rotation through your school.
After receiving your housing application and housing agreement, the Greensboro AHEC Housing Coordinator will determine housing availability and you will receive confirmation by e-mail approximately 2-3 weeks prior to rotation begin date. Actual apartment numbers will not be assigned until check in.WI-FI: The wireless network in the AHEC apartments is a free service that allows you to attach your wireless-enabled computer to the internet. To use this service, you must have a computer with a standard 802.11b/g/ WIFI card or internal wifi card as provided in laptops. The AHEC office will not be responsible for providing technical support for your computer, devices, WIFI card or setup. Technical support must come from the manufacturer or issuing body.

Reidsville
We have an apartment in Reidsville, which students will be able to utilize while on rotations in Reidsville, Yanceyville or Eden.
Some students going on rotation to various physician offices and clinics in the Reidsville, Eden and Yanceyville areas need housing during their clinicals. For this reason, the Greensboro ORPCE has opened a fully furnished apartment in Reidsville.
