This site provides a good starting point for finding resources and information about, and hardware and software applications for, Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs) via the Internet. Links are provided for general PDA resources (such as AvantGo) as well as for specific medical resources (such as ePocrates) and medical specialties resources (such as The Pediatric Pilot Page). There is also a Tutorial available through this site.

UNC-CH School of Medicine PDA Initiative
One page, Hardware, on this site gives a comparison chart of several PDA models. A software chart gives cost, size, and description of a number of different applications (plus links for further information). A basic training module offers assistance on identifying the parts of a Palm, installing the Palm desktop and identifying the buttons. Another page offers a look at what other residency programs are doing with PDAs.

Personal Digitial Assistants - Going Mobile

This site, from the Health Sciences Library of the University of Maryland, offers links to sites of hardware manufacturers, as well as to evaluative reviews and information. Links to resources are arranged by topic, including general use, dentistry, medicine, nurisng, pharmacy, physical therapy, social work and evidence based health care.

From the home page of eMedicine, click on the link to PDA, found in the upper yellow band. eMedicine, Inc. has developed an online publishing software that allows peer-reviewed articles to be written and published online quickly and efficiently.
