Health
Care Agencies in GAHEC have the privilege of establishing a
Library Contact with the MCHS/GAHEC Library. This arrangement
gives the staff of the agency easier access to the holdings and
services of the Library. Please click HERE for information regarding
this program.
Document Delivery
Document Delivery involves the provision of copies of articles or
of books or audiovisuals.
1. Photocopies
from materials in the MCHS collection may be made in the Library
($.10/page) or requested on Interlibrary Loan through their local
public library or through the Agency Library Contact.
2. Photocopies
of materials not in the MCHS collection may be requested on
interlibrary loan from other Libraries through
o UNC-Chapel Hill: The REQUEST-A-COPY service from UNC-CHAPEL HILL for materials owned by the UNC-CHAPEL HILL Health Sciences Library. Check the UNC-CHAPEL HILL library catalog for its holdings.
o ECU:
Photocopies may be requested through the Illiad service from the ECU Health
Sciences Library. Information and FAQ's are located here.
3. Audiovisuals
and selected Spanish Language materials from the MCHS/GAHEC Library
are available for interlibrary loan through the local public
library
Electronic Resources
Electronic Resources are online resources provided by the
institution, generally only to affiliated users. Examples of
electronic resources are: Ovid's Medline, MDConsult, online books
and journals.
1. AHEC
Digital Library The AHEC Digital Library (ADL) is a collection of
electronic resources and services in the Health Sciences and is
designed to be a gateway to the most useful and highest quality
resources available for the health care professional. You
are welcome to login as a guest; go to the AHEC Digital Library . For questions and
further information about additional ADL resources, please
contact the GAHEC Library.
2. Moses
Cone Health System/Gahec Library. Any resources
available through the Library's computer workstations are
available for use during Library hours. Literature searches
may be done at the MCHS/GAHEC Library on the Library computers.
Access is available to any of the free Medlines on the Internet
(including PubMed) or through the OvidWeb interface. Literature
searches may be requested from a Librarian; fees do apply.
3. UNC-Chapel Hill, Duke University, Wake Forest, and ECU require university affiliation for access to their electronic resources.
Assistance
The Staff of the three MCHS/GAHEC Libraries are always available
for information access or searching assistance. Instruction for
end user instruction is also available. Call 832-7484 for
further information
Instruction and Workshops
Instruction and workshops are provided on site at Moses Cone
Health System and online by several of the institutions.
1. Moses
Cone Health System/GAHEC Library: Library Workshops are available for MCHS and
GAHEC staff, physicians, and health care professionals. Please
call for information.
2. UNC-CH:
The Health Sciences Library provides some online
tutorials. Go to Guides

3. Duke
University: Duke makes some web-based Internet and
searching tutorials available on-line. For a list of these
