North Carolina Health Careers
Since its inception, the North Carolina AHEC Program has been challenged by the need to help recruit more minorities into health care fields. This program is designed to expose youth, especially minority and disadvantaged students, to health careers in order to address the shortage that exists.
GOALS:
Increase the
awareness of minority youth in health career opportunities.
Improve the
recruitment and retention of underrepresented students into health
careers.
Engage all AHEC
faculty/staff in the mission of the Health Career & Workforce Diversity
program, and enhance their cultural competency and sensitivity.
Enhance
appreciation among education and civic leaders and community health
providers of the importance of health career opportunities.
Maximize the
impact of community-based efforts through strong collaboration.
Increase awareness among educators, parents and community organizations of Greensboro AHEC as a resource for health careers information.
