The goal of our
Family
Medicine Residency Program is to produce excellent family
physicians who can leave our program ready to provide comprehensive, continuous,
coordinated, and community oriented health care in diverse settings.
Given the rapidly changing landscape of US healthcare, training physicians for a practice that may span three or four decades is a daunting task. That said, we are encouraged, not dismayed, by the prospect of healthcare reform. Despite an uncertain future, we take great pride in knowing that our healthcare system desperately needs more well-trained primary care physicians. The Moses Cone Family Medicine Residency has provided just that type of training for four decades.
Residents are educated by our program’s faculty, with extensive support from community physicians. The diverse skills and unique interest of our faculty also allow residents to emphasize areas of special interest. These may range from sports medicine, rural medicine, geriatrics, or wellness to any of a variety of electives. Three post-graduate sports medicine positions are also offered yearly.
We are fortunate enough to be situated within the
Moses Cone Health Care System,
a superior, multi-facility organization which provides us with a state of the
art
Finally, we place emphasis on encouraging residents and their families to lead a balanced life by taking advantage of the recreational and educational opportunities available in our community. We want to prepare each graduate of our program to be a good spouse, nurturing parent, and healthy individual, as well as an excellent family physician who will be an asset to the community in which they practice.
